I've been noticing the lack of support for women is not as strong as the support for men and more disturbing is we're (women) not supporting each other.
Although, I am co-owner with a male, in my company that does not erase the fact that I am a woman in business. So many stereotypes associated with women business owners, it would take an entire year to go through them. We also need to support single mothers business owners. They wake up everyday making sure the kids are taken care of and in some cases, have a full time job, and manage to run a business on the side. The amount of effort that goes into keeping that type of life is no small feat. By supporting these individuals, we are also supporting American-owned business and local business. I have great respect for ANYONE who started their own company, because the amount of sacrifice and dedication that is put everyday into running that business is HUGE. Needless to say they are those who call themselves "entrepreneurs" but really are copying someone else's work and passing it as theirs, but I am talking about that local event planner or designer, that local DJ, that local chef who may be afraid to try but may end up giving you the best job. Remember those big names in the business all got their start somewhere and it was a combined trust for supporters who helped them get to the top.
This message goes to my mompreneurs and entrepreneurs, don't be discourage the day that the client didn't hire you, the vendor you've referred people to is not doing the same for, those friends or family members that are not supporting you, or the lack of followers on Instagram or Facebook. Stay with it. I know I have my days but I remind myself I am no where that I want to be but I am no where that I was a year ago.
Reach out in your community, search for local women-owned business, stop by their store, visit their site, or just call them and say don't give up. From community bonds that will enhance and enriched each others lives.
